In the heart of our city, a historical treasure awaits to be discovered...

The "El Borceguí" Shoe Museum is a space that will transport you through time as you explore the evolution of the style and functionality of our shoes throughout Mexican history. Located in the historic center of Mexico City, it is exhibited as the only one of its kind in Latin America.

About its origin, in 1856, the Chacón family opened a boutique where they offered accessories such as shoes, umbrellas, gloves, trunks. By 1900 it passed into the hands of Lucas Lizaur, a Spaniard who limited his sales to leather footwear imported from Europe, in addition to diversifying his consumer.

Time went by and the establishment became part of the Villamayor family who founded this museum whose main purpose is to promote research on footwear and orthopedics, involving various disciplines such as anthropology, history, science and art.

The museum exhibits 2,000 footwear examples and 15,000 miniatures related to footwear, made of a wide variety of materials including glass, leather, ceramics, porcelain, plastic and wood. The museum is organized in five thematic sections that address historical aspects, 20th century, sports, footwear worn by famous Mexicans and also those linked to literary characters.

In addition to providing a detailed documentary projection on the history of footwear in various cultures around the world.
